An Indigenous Collection

An Indigenous Collection at the Allied Arts Council of Spruce Grove was set up in their gallery today.
This show features over a dozen artists and has approx 50 pieces of indigenous art.
I was approached in December of 2021 to help curate artists for this show. We are very proud to showcase all these incredible artists.
The idea was to create a call for visual art. All forms were accepted including sculpture, beadwork, carvings and paintings. There was no set theme but we wanted to see cultural diversity, traditions, histories and ways of knowing while creating a local cultural presence.
Some of the artists represented are Penelope Moon Walker, Linda Wright and Tashina Maskokis.
Thank you to the Allied Arts, the gallery manager Rebecca New and especially all the artists who submitted. Mahsi’Cho, much love to you all for such a show.
Viewing is Tuesday-Saturday 10-5 pm.
Reception is Saturday April 23rd, 1-3 pm.
